The Miccosukee Police Department is a full-service law enforcement agency serving our community 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Utilizing patrol vehicles, airboats, boats, and ATVs, our officers patrol nearly 300,000 acres of land in six different counties to enforce federal, state, and tribal hunting and fishing laws.

We operate three districts:

Main Station – Miccosukee Indian Reservation, Tamiami Trail (SR-90), approximately 20 miles west of Krome Avenue (SR-997)
Krome Substation – Miccosukee Casino & Resort, 500 SW 177 Ave, Miami, FL 33194
Broward County / Alley Substation – Miccosukee Indian Reservation, I-75 exit 49

Paul G. Downing serves as the Director of the Office of Emergency Management for the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida, overseeing emergency preparedness, response, and training for all Tribal citizens statewide. A U.S. Army veteran with 22 years of distinguished service, Paul transitioned into Tribal leadership and emergency management, where he has held key roles including Liaison Officer on IMAT deployments, Councilman on the Joint Tribal Council, and Chairman of the Maine Indian Tribal State Commission.

He has twice served on the FEMA National Advisory Council, advising on Tribal homeland security policy. A lifelong learner, Paul holds a Bachelor’s in Homeland Security and Emergency Management from Grand Canyon University and has completed advanced FEMA and military training programs. A proud member of the Passamaquoddy Tribe of Maine, Paul is also an avid hunter, food enthusiast, and dedicated family man.

With over 44 years in public safety, Officer Lozano brings extensive experience and a strong commitment to community engagement. Starting his career in 1982 with the City of Miami, he served as a detective and later as a reserve officer. He joined the Biscayne Park Police Department in 2018, rising to the rank of Major before retiring in 2025. Bilingual in English and Spanish, Officer Lozano is certified in multiple specialties and known for his community-focused approach. We are proud to welcome him to our team.

During the visit, Officer Moser was recognized for his heroic, life-saving actions after a vehicle crashed into a canal along US-41. Without hesitation, he entered the water and successfully rescued the trapped driver, demonstrating exceptional courage and dedication to public safety.

Officer Moser was also a nominee for Officer of the Year, a well-deserved honor reflecting his bravery and commitment to serving the community.

Welcome Officer Frank Pieiga!

We’re proud to welcome Officer Frank Pieiga to the Miccosukee Police Department. With over 30 years of public safety experience, Officer Pieiga brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to community engagement.

He began his career in 1988 as a Correctional Officer and was later promoted to Sergeant. In 2002, he transitioned to municipal law enforcement, serving nearly 17 years with the North Bay Village Police Department. Known for his community-oriented approach and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, Officer Pieiga has built lasting trust with diverse communities.

Welcome Officer Frank Pieiga!

We’re proud to welcome Officer Frank Pieiga to the Miccosukee Police Department. With over 30 years of public safety experience, Officer Pieiga brings a wealth of knowledge and a strong commitment to community engagement.

He began his career in 1988 as a Correctional Officer and was later promoted to Sergeant. In 2002, he transitioned to municipal law enforcement, serving nearly 17 years with the North Bay Village Police Department. Known for his community-oriented approach and bilingual fluency in English and Spanish, Officer Pieiga has built lasting trust with diverse communities.

1. Brittney Valladares
Both of my parents work in law enforcement, and it was an interest of mine as well. I met a 911 operator for MDSO (previously MDPD) during an observation training, and after seeing just how much she helped her callers I fell in love with the job. Her mentorship and friendship is why I have remained in this line of work for almost a decade.

I chose this career because I’ve always wanted to be someone others can count on in difficult moments. I may not be out in the field, but I still play a critical role in keeping my community safe. That’s something I take a lot of pride in. It’s not just a job it’s a way to make a difference every single day.

The Miccosukee Casino & Resort hosted the GFNY Miami cycling marathon, welcoming nearly 500 cyclists from over 25 countries. The event brought together athletes from around the world to compete and celebrate the spirit of endurance and sportsmanship.

Miccosukee Police Department officers were on-site and along the route to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators, providing traffic support and maintaining a secure environment throughout the event.
